In the Time of Chaos, the dragons asserted their power by claiming control of the world called Dünya. But one day, a man named Surcil won the favor of Gahael, god of the seasons and guardian of time, who granted him some of his powers, making him immortal. He overthrew the reign of the dragons and became the Timeless King to rule for centuries. Today, the Timeless King has mysteriously disappeared, and the clock built in his image has stopped working. Thus, the Time of Change begins. Legend has it that the day a true ruler takes over from the Timeless King, he will swing the clock's pendulum again with a gesture and thus usher in a new era.

Gameplay

In Pendulum, each player takes on the role of a powerful nobleman vying to succeed the Timeless King and rule Dünya. In this game, each noble is unique. To acquire Gold, which yields Popularity, Culture, which gives access to Prestige, and Military Resources, which increase your Power, you must strategically place your workers in each action zone within the allotted time.

At any time, you can perform the actions of your choice. You can use Worker Actions: move a Worker onto or into one of the 6 Action Zones that contain. The status of the Hourglasses indicates what you can and cannot do at any time: you can only move a Worker onto or off an Action area if the Hourglass is NOT on the line of that area, and you can only perform the Actions of an area where one of your Workers is located if the Hourglass IS on that line.

Each Action area is composed of 2 lines of Actions, some of which cost money and allow you to recover Resources. When the hourglass runs out, it moves from one line of Actions to the other, freeing up some Workers and allowing others to complete the Action. You may also choose an Action that is not timed, does not depend on Hourglasses and does not require Workers.

A game of Pendulum is played in real time over 4 rounds. At the end of each round, when the purple hourglass has been turned over 3 times, a Council Phase takes place. It's up to you to take advantage of this to acquire the best Rewards. As the game progresses, you can Claim Achievements or Conquer Provinces to earn extra points. The player with the most victory points in each of the Popularity, Prestige and Power positions wins the game.
